Students ‘Raise the Roof’ at the Raise Your Voice Event

The music and dance students of St Thomas More College presented a spectacular showcase of their talents at this year’s much anticipated 'Raise Your Voice' event.

The performers from all year levels were excited to present their acts alongside special guest artists Luke Kennedy and Chang, both of whom are talent from the hit TV show The Voice.

Preparation for the showcase saw intense days of learning, workshops, practising and several rehearsals.

STMC Program Leader Instrumental Music Ms Catherine Doversand said the advice students received was invaluable: “The mentoring and advice that students received was invaluable to the experience of working with professionals.”

“They gained insights into the craft of performance that they will take with them into the future,” she said.

Further, Ms Doversand praised the work of the college’s five Instrumental Directors, Mr Scott Browne, Ms Jodie Davis, Miss Kayleigh Pincott, Dr Tim Gaze and Mr Sacha Gibbs-Mc Phee and said: “They worked so diligently in preparing the student performances for the night."

A special highlight of the evening, adding a new dimension to the event, was the college senior dance team who cameoed with several routines in the show.

STMC Acting Principal Karen Mulcahy said she was delighted by the show and more so by the incredible talent of the students.

"The show was absolutely delightful. It really did raise the roof!"

"I am in awe of the incredible talent of the students at STMC.

"Congratulations to every performer, their teachers and families for supporting the thriving arts program at the college."
